The people residing in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions are given the possibilities to continue studying abroad and to participate in international educational and exchange programs.
In the frames of these programs, students and scientists residing in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions are given the opportunity to continue their studies and implement scientific activities with full and/or partial funding in the universities of the USA, Europe and Asia. Moreover, funding/scholarship opportunities are also created for studying in the mentioned universities.
Options for continuing study abroad:
1. Studying at Universities in the rest of Georgia
Students enrolled in universities in the rest of Georgia are enabled to take advantage of the already established cooperation between their university and leading European, American or Asian universities and to participate in international educational and exchange programs within established framework. These programs vary by university.
2. Enrollment in Erasmus+ Program
Erasmus+ is a European Union Program in the sphere of education, youth and sports. Georgia is entitled to participate in its various fields and grant competitions stemming from the process of integration into the European Union.
The Erasmus+ Program, on the one hand, provides an opportunity for Georgian universities to establish institutional cooperation with European universities and on the other hand - envisages exchange programs aimed at improving the knowledge of students of higher educational institutions and raising the qualifications of academic/administrative staff.
The program allows students to participate competitively in joint Master's programs or in a short-term (2-12 months) exchange program, as well as to participate in Jean Monnet activities, which involve the development and implementation of educational programs and research projects about the European Union.
Youth from Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions, who study in universities in the rest of Georgia, have the opportunity to participate in the Erasmus+ joint Master's Program.

3. Studying at international universities and receiving scholarship
Youth residing in Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali regions, upon their preference, have the opportunity to look for the preferred world universities, the scholarship programs announced by them and participate in them independently.

In case of successful enrollment in an international university and the need for full or partial funding/scholarship, youth residing in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions are enabled to apply to the International Education Center https://iec.gov.ge/
In the frames of the annually announced competition, the Center considers the application of a person willing to study abroad for full or partial funding/scholarship. Funding covers the reimbursement of tuition fees and/or expenses related to living abroad during the study period.
Applications are received electronically through the registration system of the Center's website - https://app.iec.gov.ge/
To participate in the competition of the International Education Center, persons residing in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region can use:
- ID Card of Georgian citizen; or
- Personal ID Number granted as a result of registration; or
- Neutral ID Card (SNID) or Neutral Travel Document (SNTD).
At the same time, it is important for the persons to have obtained the recognition of education received in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions.
